Dutch Oven

Built from scratch with Curley's Hickory as the backbone. These are the beans that belong next to any rack of ribs or pulled pork you put in front of people.

How To Make It

  1. 1

    Preheat oven to 325°F.

  2. 2

In a Dutch oven over medium heat, cook chopped bacon until fat is rendered but not fully crispy. Remove bacon, leave drippings.

  3. 3

Add onion to drippings. Cook 5–6 minutes until softened and beginning to caramelize. Add garlic, cook 1 minute more.

  4. 4

Add beans, Curley's Famous Hickory BBQ Sauce, mustard, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, and broth. Stir well to combine.

  5. 5

Return bacon to the pot. Bring to a simmer on the stovetop.

  6. 6

Cover and transfer to oven. Bake 2 hours, stirring every 45 minutes and adding broth if beans look dry.

  7. 7

Remove lid for final 30 minutes to thicken sauce. Taste and adjust seasoning.

Pro Tip

These beans are even better the next day. Make them a day ahead and reheat slowly — the Curley's Hickory sauce deepens and the beans soak up everything.
